How to overcome the "I feel useless" syndrome!

Hey guys! I'm back after a super long time! I finished my college almost 3 months back and have been on the hunt for jobs since then! Most of my friends had already got jobs in India and even started working. I was in a bad place then and was constantly feeling down. I'm usually quite a chirpy person but during those times I actually felt like a worthless piece of junk!

I applied to more than 300 companies (Yep! No kidding!) and finally got a call from one. They had seen my profile on a job search site and were interested! I literally jumped out of my sofa after they called and was grinning the whole day like an idiot after that call! I attended a few rounds of interview with that company and guess what? Yesterday I got my call letter!! *whoops in joy!!*

I have finally realized how wrong it was to think bad of myself and succumb to the pressures of public opinion (the famous "log kya kahenge")!! Each time some aunty used to ask "Oh beta, so studies done, you still didn't get a job? accompanied with a demeaning , judgy smirk ,I used to feel smaller and smaller and like I was probably the most useless person on earth. Coming from a reputed college that boasted 95% placements only added to my worries!

But guys who cares about Log kya kahenge? After all it's our life and we have every right to live it the way we want to! If you don't get a job, no worries! Keep your head high and inform all the nosy relatives and friends that you will get one soon confidently! If after our studies you wish to take a break. go ahead take one! If after studying engineering, you wish to pursue art, go ahead do it! If your in your late 20's and don't feel like it's time for marriage, set your foot down and tell your parents that your just not ready for it! The only important factor is whatever you set out to do, put your heart and soul into achieving it and for sure one day you will! Just because you don't achieve success right now DOES NOT mean that you suck at it, it just means that your time has not come yet!
Do what you wish to! Do what makes your heart happy!
NEVER EVER let anyone make you feel bad about yourself!

10 SUMMER MUST HAVES!!

Now all of us know how tiring and physically draining Indian summers can get. Since I have stayed in Chennai I know a lil too much about it!! But recently I heard that this year, the summer’s even worse in places like Delhi and Hyderabad and so I decided to give you guys a checklist of my SUMMER MUST HAVES!!

     1) A good quality sunscreen

Seriously guys, no matter how much I stress on this it can NEVER be enough!! They help protect the skin and also prevent premature ageing which is caused due to the harsh sun!! Now I know the many complaints we all have about sunscreen. Many of us feel it makes our skin look cakey or oily, some of us hate the smell and so on. But let me tell you, you just haven’t found the right one yet! There are specialized sunscreens now for oily, dry and even combinations skins. I have combination skin which slowly leans towards the oilier side during summers. I recently bought the Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte gel which has a SPF of 50 which is AMAZING!!I love that it just disappears when I massage it my skin and has a nice matte finish!!  Priced at a modest Rs 295 (I believe it’s cheaper when you buy it online!! Eee!!)  it is a sure boon for all the oily/combination skin beauties!!

 2)    Wet wipes/Blotting paper

Well guys we all know how super gross and oily our faces can get during the day!! I sometimes seriously feel that like a whole state can prosper from the oil got from my face!! :D Blotting sheets are a gift sent from heaven and swiftly remove all traces of oil!! My favorite one is this Clean and Clear one which comes across a bit pricey (I don’t remember the exact price but is around 1000 Rs) but lasts forever and is simply amazing!! There are also the more moderately priced Johnson baby wipes which works wonders too!!

3) Deodrant

 

Hehe!! Now we have ALL had those moments when we have inconspicuously tried to lift our hands pretending to stretch when we were actually trying to sniff our armpits!! (Please tell me you guys have done it too and I’m not the only weird one!!) But with a good, lasting deo we can ensure we smell like a piece of heaven all the time!! ^_^ Now I love this one from AXE which contains note of sandalwood and vanilla which are both my FAV!! I bought this from Dubai and it is quite reasonably priced at around 20DHS (345Rs). So YAYY!!

4) Swag shades

Having a statement pair of sunglasses is  a MUST for all those who love to stand out!! Seriously guys haven’t we had enough of those aviators? So let’s bade our adieus to them and rock this summer with some new, bold styles. Round framed sunglasses are HUGE this season and look great on pretty much every face shape.  Just make sure to pick a pair which fits your face perfectly!  This quirky blue pair that I found online in lenskart is priced at  Rs 2495 and can surely cool up any summer day!!

5) An all-rounder BB cream

Now mostly during the hot days I stick to just a dab of compact powder on my face. But when I’m going out for an event or something a lil special, I like to put a pea sized amount of BB cream on my face and neck. Trust me guys, I have tried MANY. But my absolute hands down favorite is the Ponds White Beauty BB+ cream! This is super affordable at Rs 140 for a 18grams and is literally a life saver for every budget diva!! It just melts into my face and keeps my skin looking matte and super fresh all day!! All it takes is a tiny dollop of this and a pat of my favorite compact and I’m good to go!

     6)  Oil absorbing face powder

No matter what makeup we apply, nothing is over without a swab of some good face powder. My absolute favorite for the last 4 years has been the Lakme Absolute Compact!! I love its matte consistency which doesn’t leave my skin looking flakey  and provides a superb finish on the face! Priced at Rs 650 this is PERFECTION!!

     7)   A matte lipstick

I know many people prefer lip glosses during the hot days, but I beg to differ! I personally hate the sticky feeling of lip glosses and find them flimsy as they don’t last during the humid summer days. Also I find that lip gloss along with a sweaty face just doesn’t make for a pretty sight!! Comparatively I  find matte lipsticks much more prettier and long lasting! I love the Revlon Matte Balm in Unapologetic! There are 9 more available shades but this is the one that caught my eye!! It’s such a bright toned pink which is PERFECT for adding a burst of color and looks amazing on all of us olive skinned girls!! This is a lil steep priced at Rs 800 but it is SO WORTH IT!! So go ahead and grab it to add a bit of jazz to your summer days!!

     8)    Breathable shoes

I love keeping my feet in the open during hot days as I feel it allows them to breathe more and is in general just more comfy! This comfortable nude pair above is the answer to all our summer dreams!! It’s perfect for any outfit from culottes to maxi dresses to just a crop top and jeans! Invest in a good quality pair so that you can use it for many summers to come as a nude pair will NEVER goes out of style!

9)    Cute umbrella

I know many girls shudder from the thought of carrying an umbrella and walking outside. But I say what’s there to worry? Who’ll take care of our skin other than us? Carrying an umbrella will not only protect your face from tanning but will also keep you feeling fresh! Invest in a super cute umbrella like the one above and you will have people stop by on their way to glance at you and your pretty umbrella!! ;)

10)  A fancy water bottle

We all know how important it is to keep ourselves hydrated during the summers, but rarely do we take any step to do anything about it! Having a cute bottle will not only make us reach for it more but will motivate us to increase our water intake. Find out the capacity of your bottle and chart out a plan as to how much you plan to drink in a day and the intervals in which you will consume it!

Now that you have all these essentials you are ALL READY FOR SUMMER girl!! Yayy!!
